Hi,
From 13th December 2024 all electronic goods including Eurorack modules sold in the EU must comply with improved safety regulations entitled GPSR (General Product Safety Regulations). For non-EU companies exporting into the EU they have to appoint an EU Authorised Representative (based in the EU) to confirm compliance which includes multi-language safety instructions and confirmation of CE compliance.
As a UK Eurorack manufacturer I am taking these regulations seriously and aim to appoint an EU Authorised Rep, which is not cheap. Including safety instructions and CE compliance information is easy, it is the rep that is costly.
I am interested to know what other UK (and EU) Eurorack manufacturers are doing about GPSR. Music Tribe has safety instructions and the usual FCC/CE compliance and the contact details for their EU rep in their user manuals. I have seen CE compliance information in some manufacturers user manuals, but I have not found any safety instructions yet or any specific mention of GPSR on docs or websites.
The options are broadly:
A: I am not implementing anything specific for GPSR and will continue to sell in the EU
B: I am in the process of implementing user safety instructions and CE compliance by a third party
C: I am planning for my EU distributor to ensure compliance with the documentation I provide
D: I am pulling out of EU sales
I have suspended sales into the EU from AMSynths until I get an EU Rep in place. Many small UK based eBay and Amazon makers are pulling out of the EU sales, as these platforms authenticate compliance and an EU rep is expensive. Imports to the EU will be destroyed without an EU rep address and safety compliance in place plus a fine up to to 20,000 Euros. It is easy for customs to open a parcel and see if these are in the box, but very hard for them to look at every parcel!
The objective of this post is to get responses from non EU (and EU) Eurorack manufacturers, so we can all see what our industry is doing about GPSR. The regulations apply to EU manufacturers as well. Many Thanks
