Two days ago Chase Bliss Audio, the pedal makers from the US, informed their customers that a number of their pedals are being discontinued due to the use of vactrols / LDR in their designs.
Apparently, the EU and the UK had a ban on these components in effect for some time, with a temporal exception for audio gear (oh, the bitter ironey of the temporal aspect of this law).
That exemption has now expired, and ... this seems to be pretty dire news for all Buchla heads who were eyeing a purchase of a 208c or 292, or am I missing something?
Has anyone heard anything about this ban affecting Buchla's sales policy in the EU / UK? Maybe I'm interpreting this news incorrectly, but losing access to vactrols in offical products / modules / instruments, not just in Buchla-land, seems to be a major pita, isn't it? Shouldn't it affect Make Noise's QMMG re-issue as well?
Please, someone who's more tech-savvy than me, chime in with your opinion!
