1U & 3U Eurorack Modules • Uniform random

I was patching the output from the Rnd Step into the Decay CV input of the Natural Gate, and not hearing much variation.

Looking into this, I think the output from Rnd Step (with nothing patched into sample) is something like a normal/gaussian distribution, i.e. I get outputs close to 0v much more often than I get outputs close to 5v (or -5v).

I can kinda work around this by patching a triangle LFO into sample. But I find that if I'm S&H'ing at regular intervals, the relative periods of the LFO and the S&H trigger tend to create patterns in the output (i.e. it's not as random). I guess I could mitigate this by FMing the LFO, but this is getting to be a lot of patching for something that seems simple in concept.

I'm aware of the Doepfer a-149-1 and Tiptop/Buchla 266t which I think both have a uniform distribution output, but these modules both do a lot of other things and are a lot of HP for this 1 thing I want.

I really just want something simple and compact with multiple stepped random outputs like Rnd Step but which will give me extreme values as often as central ones. Does something like this exist in eurorack?

Or, what are folks patching to get this result?
