I'm curious; what kind of things, after starting out in Eurorack and building your synth, did you find was missing from your set up? I'm sure there are people that were/are much more experienced than I and probably built the perfect system right off the bat OR maybe they started with a complete system and didn't really need anything else. But for me, coming from exclusively using DAWs and VSTs and never even owning a hardware synth, I had a lot of trial and error and it took quite a while to get to a point where I was generally happy with all my modules.
The thing that I realized after about 6 months was: EFFECTS!
I pretty much wanted to keep everything in the case and also didn't have a bunch of effect pedals laying around. I know some people run in and out of their DAW to take advantage of all those effects but for me it was pushing me back into the thing I was trying to get away from. Once I added some effects to the end of the chain it was really a game changer. Especially for things like pads with long attack/release envelopes, reverb for percussion, delay for arpeggios..etc.
Second would probably be utilities: mixers and attenuators.
Was there something that you found that that really took your rack to the next level?
