I thought I should post on this forum instead of general gear so people won't worry about the lack of pads.
(just kidding). I recently took a chance on getting the Pro VS Mini and have been working with it. Now that I've come to grips with how to get to the available functions I am finding this little synth ideal for the kind of noise/sound improv I enjoy doing.
So if interested, here's a link to a live improvisation I uploaded to SoundCloud. I think the range of timbres is pretty cool. I put together a small portable system consisting of the VS, Beatstep(not pro) and a Roland Microcube guitar amp that provides some varied distortion, delay, and reverb in spots. I recorded the amp speaker with a DR-40x field recorder.
The synthesizer is really very simple outside of the vector programming, and that's quite simple once I got acquainted with it. So a lot of manual intervention ("playing") required with quite limited modulation automation. I like the simplicity and engagement required.
Please comment if so inclined!
