4U Format Modules + EMS • Buchla 200e Controlling volume of signal with 223e

I want to control the volume of the 4 different signal that go into the 292e.
Like in this patchBut when i setup the slider to use location and plug them into velocity i don't hear the signal for 80% of the way of the slider, only in the very last bit of the upper area i start to hear something.
Like i illustrated here in green and red:I can improve this with a 256e by making the curve nonlinear .. but utilizing the whole 256e just for this purpose doesn't feel right to me.

Is there a different/better way of doing that?
