Expert Sleepers • Going a bit crazy with ES-9 on a windows ...

Hey guys. I am going absolutely nuts over here with my ES-9. I am simply trying to interface it with VCV rack, and I'm getting all kinds of unreasonable problems. I have been trying this for hours, spent my whole night on it, it should be simpler than this ... I am on Windows 11, Ableton 12, running firmware V1.31 on the ES-9

I have my main audio interface set to my Babyface Pro FS. I want to use VCV rack to communicate with my modular system. So I have an audio module set to WASAPI driver, connected to the device LINE (2- ES9) 1-16 in. All of the lights 1-16 are lit green. When I take any signal into the ES-9 and connect the AUDIO 16 module's output to another AUDIO module (set to DAW 1-2) as I would normally record from VCV to my DAW, I get a nasty crunchy signal. It automatically pops the sample rate down to 32KHz. When I change it to 44.1KHz to match my project settings and the babyface's SR, it gets even worse. Absolutely nasty crackling digital noise. Like I'm sticking an oscillator straight through a bit crusher. Additionally, when I try to connect a CLOCKED module's output to the ES-9's "TO DEVICE INPUT 1" nothing happens. No signal at my ES-9 at all. Additionally, LEDs 5, 6, and 8 are always lit red as soon as the module is powered on. What's up with this? Is this thing bricked? Can anybody give guidance on any of these issues please? I have never been able to get this thing working and its driving me crazy.
