I was very excited when I saw that SWAM as available for the iPhone, and at very good prices - 35 euro per instrument, around 100 for a pack of four. My plan was to use them with the EWI and a CME WIDI transmitter. A pocketable performance setup. However I've found a couple of critical problems: stuck notes is the most annoying, followed by some definite latency (around a 10th of a second I think), which seems to come and go at random. I imagine the phone is just handling too many other tasks to give much priority to midi messages, and I'll try it out with the phone in airplane mode, but I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered these issues in a similar setup.
As for the sound of the SWAM alto sax (the only one I've purchased so far) it's excellent, but I'd rather have the relatively poor but reliable sound of the EWI's own presets than a much better sound from the phone that I can't rely on not to crash out at any moment.
I'm thinking if this is an iOS problem I might eventually get one of those mini PCs just to run virtual instruments for the EWI.
