I use my computer (Ableton and CV tools) to control all my modular system. Most of the times I will end up using 2 channels or more for each voice: one for a trigger another for velocity (probably more for pitch in non percussion voices but that doesn't matter for now). My idea is that I could send dynamic triggers and decode the trigger and velocity just from one channel using a sample and hold. The triggers could have a 5-10V range for example. This would allow me to save on expensive digital/analog bandwidth.
Will a traditional sample and hold sample the amplitude of the trigger correctly if that trigger is connected to both inputs? Let's say a 1ms trigger.
I don't have a sample and hold in my system yet so I cannot test this. ChatGPT told me it's not stable enough so thats why I have not bought one yet to try.
Curious about technical explanations also.
Thanks!
