I have a Behringer System 55. I am not able to get the amount of modulation that I want when using a 921B OSC(1) LF square wave output to modulate another 921B’s (2) LF saw tooth modulation of the sawtooth audio waveform pitch of a third 921B(3). The rate of (2) changes every few seconds from the effect of (1), so that (3)’s rate of rising pitch is periodically varied. The problem presents as though either the output of (1) is weak, or the modulation input of (2) hasn’t enough sensitivity. Has anyone had this problem? Am I missing something?
I believe this would have been the patch used by Keith Emerson patch on the live recording of Pictures at an Exhibition, about half way through the performance. My original ARP 2600, which I bought in about 1973, has no problem with recreating this sound exactly as Emerson presented it.
Also, for LF modulation, too bad the sawtooth waveform output of a 921B ramps downwards. I am amazed that my System 55 has no control voltage inverter, either. Also, too bad the modules with control voltage inputs have no pots built in, but I didn’t think about that when I bought this synth.
