Music Tech DIY • Wrong Power suppy used?

I used a 10v DC unregulated power supply into a Akai SG01K as I thought the Akai was regulated, but something smoked. The power comes in through a couple of 33nf then a filter, and another 33nf. The power flows straight into the large smoothing cap from there, and then into a LM7805A. I thought this would have been the right power supply as the 7805 is good for up to 35v, but perhaps I should have used a regulated power supply. Tested the regulator and that's fine, but not sure how to test the 33nf caps or the filter, as in theory they should be the only problem. There is a bit of wire on the fuse, looking back at some pictures online this is original on the SG01K Any ideas?
