1U & 3U Eurorack Modules • What set of modules would provide 90% of the functionality on Modwiggler?

Hello,

Inspired by the recent modules that are actually patches thread, I'm wondering, what is the minimum set of modules/functions necessary to provide a nearly 'complete' modular system? ('Complete' meaning that it provides about 90% of the functionality of all modules listed on Modwiggler, and that the system need only replicate one module/function/patch at a time. I'd prefer to work at the level of existing modules rather than electrical components, though the latter would be a much simpler list.)

Maybe there's a definition of this from before the eurorack market exploded. I think some of the newer more innovative digital modules might be difficult to replicate with basic building blocks (eg. stuff in the versio line), however for most modules, I enjoy thinking about how I could replicate them using more basic building blocks (irrespective of whether this would be sensible to try). Eg, I could replicate a Metropolis with (I think) eight offset generators (or one, a mult and a few attenuators/VCAs), a few addressable switches, a few clock sources, a slew limiter, and a few more CV sources for control of all the above. The UI would probably be very poor, it would probably be more expensive, and more HP.

Thoughts?
