hi
Do you have a go-to Filter when using stereo samples? Which topology do you like best for that use case?
The filter I have work great on samples but I use them for synth stuff. I use the octatrack but its filter are bland compared to what I have in the rack. And as soon as I use resonance I don't like it anymore. Although the hp-lp combination which is basically a bp with variable bandwidth works great for samples. Which would make the ssf Stereo Dipole a great candidate on paper. Do you like it for samples?
But its not necessary to have 2 filter per side, I could easily use the hp of the OT without resonance to get rid of the low end and use the stereo filter as lp for the fun stuff. I'm not looking for Bass in the samples I use, so when using drumloops I cut the bass in most cases because my other voices do the bass and bassy samples mostly destroy that because they can't be controlled as accurately in my experience. I'm not looking for much character, meaning it should be possible to have a clean output.
here is what I gathered from MG:
- ssf Stereo Dipole
- happy nerding mmm vcf (But moogish ladder might not be the best for samples)
- Shakmat Dual Dagger
- ALM MCFx2
- Doepfer A-121s
- Weston SF1
- Olivella Modular Imagenes
I've tried Qpas and Morgasmatron and its not my cup of tea although I like both companies.
what are you using? Your experiences?
Thanks in advance
