Music Tech DIY • Making a TS10/TS12 from just the main board?

Hey all :)

I've found a listing for just the digital board of an Ensoniq TS12 and I was wondering if it would be possible to make up the rest of the instrument myself.

I've found a service manual for the TS10/TS12, but it doesn't include any schematics. It just has a list of the boards and how they fit into the case. The missing boards are the analogue board, the jack board, the power supply, the SCSI board and the display board. I don't plan on doing anything with the boards related to the keyboard, as I'd just be looking to turn this into a rack mount module.

Unfortunately, it looks like there are no schematics available for this unit. The power supply would be easy (I'd just take an off the shelf SMPS from mouser), but everything else would be quite tricky. Obviously, it would mean designing my own PCBs.

I could guess what was going on with the analogue and jack board, but it would probably be quite inaccurate. It might even be extremely inaccurate if there's any DAC stuff going on with it. The display board would almost definitely be the most challenging as it actively communicates with the digital board and I think the keyboard based on what the service manual says.

If anyone has any thoughts on the matter, I would greatly appreciate it :sb:
