Modular Synth General Discussion • Connecting USB B to "midi to CV" module

I have an Akai MPK mini with a USB B midi port and I need it to talk to my DIY "midi to CV" module using a 5 pin din port.

I know I could put a computer and a usb to midi cable between them but I would prefer a simpler more DIY approach maybe using an Arduino or something.

And I thought MIDI was supposed to be simple.
