General Gear • Fun, smallish electronic instruments?

This one is pretty stupid, but I love this forum, so I thought i might ask

Any really simple synthesizers, samplers, drum machines, or grooveboxes that I can play around?

Of course we all know the pocket operators and M8, but anything more niche? And not that I have anything against either, but trackers are a bit time consuming and the pocket operators are... well... the pocket operators

I'm considering just buying a Pi, control header, audio port, and screen to see if I can just force myself to script a little system up! I have a zeptocore, maybe I should write a basic shell for that?

Writing software for the Launchpad controller I own (I use Reaper now!)
