I find that feature really useful because, among other things you can use the non PMed out for things like syncing the modulator without creating a feedback.
- Joranalogue G3 (The core output isn't affected by PM)
- Schippmann Omega Phi
- Weston Precision Audio PAO (Probably my next replacing the G3)
- New Systems Instruments Tri Phase Oscialltor
- Malekko "Uncle" Oscillator
- Malekko Oscillator 2
- Synthesis Technology E352
- Schlappi Engineering Three Body (Jumper disabling PM on Saw out)
- Happy Nerding FM-Aid + any oscillator
for the use case mentioned above I used a wavefolder or dual comparator to get more zero crossings to be able to sync the PM modulator properly in higher frequencies. Some adjustment has to be made to distribute these zero crossings (With the comparator, gates) in a symmetrical manner.
Great sounds can be obtained with that with a huge sweet spot, or better said "sweet zone". You can adjust the PM modulators frequency very freely. Soundwise it reminds me of Wavetables but in analog. Certainly its a kind of waveshaping. AFAIKS its not possible with FM because in FM the osc core is modulated while in PM it isn't.
Any more examples?
