I recently moved to a new place which is small and my studio is a cube. Not good for acoustics. I decided I needed good monitoring headphones and my research led me to Audeze LCD-X. Then I realized I needed a decent headphone amp. I trialled the Chord Hugo TT2 and was blown away. I always sweat a bit when I spend this much on hardware. But. I've set it uo as an aggregate device and it's feeding my studio monitors as well. I always thought the whole expensive DAC thing was a bit of a crock until I got this working. I am absolutely blown away. I've heard detail I've never heard before. This is not some kind of post justification. It's very real. I don't know if it is really worth as much as they ask for it. That's such a black hole. But man even with my failing ears it's stunning. As for visual design, it's quirky, but I like it. The LED in the circuit board indicates the sampling frequency and the blobby knob changes colour according to the gain.
