Is is kaputt or made on purpose?
A metal part in a jackhammer from a friend of mine detached and made a short on the power distribution. To open it I had to take out (rub, scrub) everything that isolate it from liquids to see what's inside.
Eye-catching is the IC. It looks like it burned.
Then I saw a resistor that exploded.
And now I wonder if the IC is dead or not. I can’t see its reference, so replacing it is gonna be hard not having any schematics or info about it. But seeing the kaputt resistor, I wonder if the maker of the board took away on purpose the reference of the IC. I have some doubts because the "burn" mark seems very deep and it seems quite risky to go so deep just to erase the reference.
I will replace the resistor and will mount back everything to test, so I'll know if only the resistor needed to be replaced or not, but still I'd like to know your opinion.
What do you think?
